Feral femininity, pattern engineering, and giallo swirl ’round in the psyche of Ligeia Djanga, who has spent the past nine years devoted to costume design in Austin, Texas. She is an adept textile ager/ dyer, fabricator, and set tailor.

She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. Her degree — a Bachelor’s of Science in Textiles and Apparel: Functional and Technical Apparel Design, was earned in 2020.

Since 2016, Ligeia has focused on three core mediums:

  1. Knit patternmaking

  2. Knitwear construction

  3. Textile dyeing

A devotee of the industrial serger, Ligeia is known for her rigging and modifications of her industrial machines. Her work is characterized by omnipresent gold topstitching — bold ladder stitches that mimic a classic flatlock.

Textile dyes course through her veins; see her work samples below.
